TRIBUTE TO A LEGEND:

Gene Kiniski

(November 23, 1928 - April 14, 2010)

The show started with a tribute to "Canada's Greatest Athlete" who passed away at the age of 81 after a lengthy battle with cancer. The wrestlers lined ringside as a tribute video was played, and the bell was rung 10 times during a moment of silence, as we mourned the loss of one of the all-time great pioneers of pro wrestling.

OAPW TITLE QUALIFYING MATCH:
"Hardcore" Michael More versus Minion
The first match of the night was supposed to be Friar MacBeth and Minion, but More, with his kilted sidekick in tow, decided to interrupt OAPW Promoter, Don Andrews, as he welcomed the crowd to STAIRWAY TO GOLD. Anyone that knows Michael More, knows him to usually be a very egotistical and self-centered, but he took time out to pay his respects to Gene Kiniski, lamenting he was never able to meet the man and learn the tricks to someday himself gain notoreity on the level of "Canada's Greatest Athlete." But as quickly as More opened a window to his nicer side, he just as quickly slammed it shut and brashly declared he would easily become first-ever OAPW Champion...then he insulted the town of Kamloops, and the town's local wrestling hero, Minion! "Hell's Cowboy" hit the ring and demand that More take Friar's place "and put his money where his mouth is," but More refused. Don Andrews asked what the fans wanted, and they wanted More's head on a pike, so the match was indeed made official...right then and there! Unfortunately, More used distraction and blatant cheating--as both of his feet were on the ropes as he took Minion down with a double-legsweep in the corner--to steal a victory in short order and scurry to the safety of the backstage area.

OAPW TITLE QUALIFYING MATCH:
"Mad Dog" Marty Sugar versus Scorpio Knightmare
Not only was a spot in the Ladder Match up for grabs, but Mad Dog had agreed to put his Okanagan-Interior Title on the line, too. The cocky Knightmare jumped his larger foe before the bell, but Sugar was able to overpower the pesky challenger...until Knightmare halted the champion's momentum with an eyerake, before brutally attacking Mad Dog's left knee. Scorpio mocked the crowd as he focussed savagely on his opponent's knee, repeatedly attacking the limb whenever Sugar fought back. But when Knightmare went for his Cosmic Sting (619), Mad Dog was able to catch his opponent and fight through the pain to hit his Okanagan Slam (Oklahama Slam) for the pinfall.

OAPW TITLE QUALIFYING MATCH:
"The Prince of Power" Lak Siddartha versus Thompson Valley Tiger
Siddartha was initally slated to face Hellion, but the Okanagan's masked luchadore chose to quit the business, rather than tangle with the intimidating Siddartha. The mysterious Thompson Valley Tiger offered to fill in at the last minute...and proceeded to be beaten from pillar to post, getting tossed around like the proverbial rag-doll, before being pinned in convincing fashion with a monstrous F-5.

OAPW TITLE QUALIFYING MATCH:
Friar MacBeth versus Slave
In what was a decidedly hard-hitting affair, Friar eagerly replaced Michael More in this match with Slave, as More headed to the back to relax before the Main Event. No strangers to each other, Friar and Slave tore into each other with reckless abandon...including a plancha by Slave to the floor, that nearly broke Friar's leg in the process! Back and forth the battle raged, until a well-timed Slave Driver put Friar down for the pinfall, and sent Slave into the Main Event.

SECOND-CHANCE MATCH:
Minion versus Scorpio Knightmare
With Friar's leg injury deeming him ineligble to continue, and Thompson Valley Tiger licking his wounds after being so brutally beaten by Lak Siddartha, Minion and Scorpio Knightmare would duke it out in this "Second Chance" Match...with a guarantee that the winner would get the very first shot at the new OAPW Champion! Despite giving up quite a bit of size, Knightmare used his speed and ring-experience to take advantage early. But Kamloops' favorite son would not be denied, fighting back in a big way and forcing Knightmare to tap out to his painful Hell's Cradle submission finisher. The crowd cheered raucously, knowing that their hometown hero had secured himself a Golden Opportunity!

SPECIAL ATTRACTION
ALL-STAR WRESTLING TRANS-CANADA TITLE:
Disco Fury (c) versus Adam Fedyk versus Collin Cutler
The recent implosion of the Kelownafornians (Fedyk & Cutler) took an interesting turn in this Special Attraction, as both men would not only battle each other, but the reigning ASW Trans-Canada Champion. Continuing to prove that All-Star Wrestling has the only "national" title that actually travels the country, Disco Fury bravely fought two hot young stars that are bound and determined to take that "next step" in Western Canada. There were moments when Fedyk and Cutler actually reverted back to working as partners, as they battered the champion with some vicious double-team maneuvers; but personal glory and a broken friendship kept getting in the way, allowing Disco time and again to battle back like the determined champion he is. In the end, 12-years' worth of world-traveled experience proved to be the deciding factor, as Disco Fury retained his title in a thrilling contest that had the fans on their feet in appreciation.

THE MAIN EVENT
FOUR-WAY LADDER MATCH FOR THE OAPW TITLE:
Lak Siddartha versus Marty Sugar versus Michael More versus Slave
In a shocking turn of events, a chain-wielding Minion stormed out as More (accompanied by The Friar), was introduced first...chasing the two men out of the building and out into the Kamloops streets. None of the three would return, until long after the Main Event came to a conclusion. Initially, Sugar and Slave tried to team up to battle the monstrous Siddartha, but he beat the Hell out of both men, until ladders came into play and "The Prince of Power" was finally chopped down to size. All three men savagely attacked each other, using the ladders as weapons, and at various time, each of the three was within inches of grabbing the title; at one point, Sugar had his hands on the belt and was about to pull it down, when Siddartha intercepted and kept the carnage going. In the end, Sugar splashed Siddartha (who was trapped under a ladder), only to have Slave connect with a huge frog-splash on both opponents (and the aforementioned ladder), and was within reach of the championship...when Sugar surprised him with The Muzzle at the top of another ladder. Slave punched free and sent Sugar crashing with some European Uppercuts, only to come crashing back to Earth himself, as the battered ladder actually snapped in two! Not to be denied, Slave grabbed the remaining ladder (itself a battered mess), and reached for the gold, to become the first-ever OAPW Champion! While an aching Siddartha seethed at ringside, Sugar staggered to his feet and shook the inaugural champion's hand, as the Kamloops crowd cheered Slave's valiant triumph against the odds.
